I was booked by a client in Phoenix for a shoot in Atlanta. At the event in Atlanta, there was a band playing. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the name of the band, but I was however able to snap a few pictures. Check ‘em out below.

Atlanta & Vemma

No, one has nothing to do with the other, but I do have news regarding both.

First off, Atlanta…we’re headin’ out to Atlanta for some good times and a bit of work. The last time I was there, I went for a job interview. It was for a 3rd interview in which the first two were over the phone. I was that close to gettin’ the job but in the end, they gave it to another candidate. I was pretty bummed out. I really wanted the job. It was with a national company and I was really looking forward to living in a new city. After all was said and done, I kept in touch w/ one of the guys that I interviewed with. He and I chatted quite a bit since. As it turned out, since my interview (approx. 11-months ago), the position I interviewed for was eliminated. Not only was the position eliminated, the whole media department was shut down! Funny how things work out, right? The picture below sums it up.

After all of that, I went back to freelancing. It was up and down for a while so I decided to accept a temporary position with Vemma Nutrition Company. My contract was for 90-days. Well, the 90-days expired so I thought they would just renew the contract. Instead, they offered me a permanent position with the company. Naturally, I accepted. As of May 13, I became a full-time regular employee of Vemma. I’m totally stoked on my job as Vemma is a great company and I work with a team of great people: very creative and very talented. “Every thing happens for a reason.” I love that quote.

03/2013 Full Moon

A full moon is usually associated with not-so-good things and/or events. Not today. Today is my son’s birthday. As I may have mentioned before, he’s in the Army and just did some training in Hawaii. All they did there was train so it’s too bad he didn’t get to check out the island. I’m guessing he will one of these days.

With the help of Krazywake Productions, I’ll be filming a fashion show in Phoenix at the Musical Instrument Museum. I’m really looking forward to this event, not to mention working on the video.

Anyway, that’s all for now. I just wanted to give props to my son for his birthday and for his accomplishments in the Army. See you all soon!

Elektra + San Diego + Me = Awesome!

I went to San Diego over the weekend to hang out w/ Elektra (pictured above). It had been a while since my last trip back home so I was definitely looking forward to it. Sure, it was a 6-hour drive, but I gotta tell ya; It was definitely worth it! The weather was great, the hosts (Elektra and her parents) were awesome, and San Diego was…well, fabulous! I can’t wait to go back, which I hope is sooner than later. Enjoy the pics below.

Nascar + Verve

I went to my first Nascar race over the weekend: a Nationwide Series race at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, AZ. I met some of the drivers; they were super cool and down-to-earth! One of the drivers I met and worked with was Mike Wallace. I say “worked with” because his new sponsor just happens to be the company I work for: Verve Bold! It was a great match if you ask me: a great product made by a great company for a great driver!

Anyway, I got a lot of images and footage for Verve. I’ll post up a gallery and a short recap video in the few days. All in all, it was a great experience, something I would love to do again. I need to bring ear protection next time, though.

A Different Course

Like I said in my last post, it had been a while due to some big things happening. The thing is that I’m working corporate now, full-time. I’m at Vemma Nutrition Company in Scottsdale, AZ. Naturally, I’m in the video department but I’m also going to be taking photos. The image above is just one of the shots I took for them. We’re hustlin’ & bustlin’ now as their main event of the year is fast approaching: their annual convention in Las Vegas, NV, the first week of April. I’ll be creating the video to open the event so the pressure’s on! No worries though; I work well under pressure. Here’s one of the videos I put together to promote the convention.

So as you can see, I’ve been pretty busy. But, I haven’t given up my freelance business altogether. I’m still freelancing if/when time permits, which is usually in the evenings and/or the weekends. It’s workin’ out so far so I’m not complaining. I’ll do my best to keep up with updating you all, but if I should skip a day or four, you know why.

Well, I do have a good excuse but I’m going to save explaining for the next post with details of what’s been goin’ on complete w/ an image or two and maybe even a video or two. Ready for Winter

No, the image above (taken w/ a GoPro Hero 2) wasn’t taken recently. It was taken last year. That’s how ready I am for winter. Under normal circumstances, that’s really no big deal. It’s a big deal this time because I never say that. I’m from Southern California. I love the sun. I love the warm weather. And I love wakeboarding. This year, for some reason, I’m ready for snow. I cannot wait to go snowboarding. Maybe because living in Phoenix, I’m sick of the warm (more like HOT) weather. It’s actually quite nice right now; very nice and comfortable enough to wear shorts during the day and cool enough to warrant a sweatshirt in the evenings. That’s tough because on one hand, it’s too cold (for me) to go wakeboarding but it’s too warm for snowboarding. I can’t win! Anyway, I’m ready to go snowboarding. So to those in the Phoenix area that rely on snow dances or cold weather wishes, help me out, will ya?!?!

Earlier this week, I decided to close out my renting of a storage unit. Since I drive a compact car, I had to make a couple trips. No biggie; the storage unit was only a couple of miles away. Once I got everything in the garage, I ran into a box of old pictures. Among many pictures of my son was a stack of pictures taken at Lake Powell. Lake Powell sits on the border of Arizona and Utah is one of the largest man-made lakes in the U.S., second only to Lake Mead. In ’99, my friends Berto, Steve, Henry and I went to Powell for a wakeboard vacation. We drove from Stockton, CA, through Las Vegas, NV, on to Lake Powell in Page, AZ. We stayed at the Lake Powell Resorts and launched out of Wahweap Marina. We were there for 5 days and it was one of my favorite vacations. Lake Powell is my most favorite lake; I can’t wait to go there again. Henry and I are hoping we can put together a houseboat trip some time next summer. Cross your fingers for us!

The image above (cell phone picture of a picture…haha) is me trying a backside 180. I believe Steve took the shot and we were riding in Navajo Canyon. I could be wrong though. Yes, I still had hair then. And yes, I was sportin’ blonde (orange?) hair. Feel free to laugh. Have a great day!

Red Bull Triple Set

The Red Bull Triple Set took place a couple weeks ago in Downtown Chandler, AZ. As you can see from the image above, skateboarders hurled themselves down 3 sets of stairs while flipping and “shuving” their boards in the air. Check out the gallery below!

In this installment of Throwback Thursday, the photo above (circa 2006) brings you back to my first sighting of an Epic 23V. At the time, it was the only boat that had a stock ballast of 4000 lbs., dual rudder and transom speakers, all inside a Resin-Infused All-Composite hull. My understanding is that it’s still the only boat to boasts said features.

The photo was taken at San Vicente Reservoir, located just north of Lakeside in San Diego County. A man-made lake, it is fed by the Colorado River and the San Vicente Creek via the first San Diego Aqueduct branch of the Colorado River Aqueduct from Lake Havasu. (Source: Wikipedia) The lake served as one of very few places to wakeboard in San Diego County. Unfortunately for SD wakeboarders, the lake has been closed since 2008 as the San Diego County Water Authority planned to raise the dam. Construction began in 2009 to raise the dam, build a new marina, as well as construct a couple new boat ramps. The lake is said to reopen between 2014 and 2017, depending on when the water level reaches the new boat ramp. I’m sure San Diego wakeboarders and fishing enthusiasts can’t wait for the grand reopening.

Like Father Like Son

“Like father, like son” – my family says that a lot about me and my son, Kyle. They say we’re both a couple of characters and happy-go-lucky. They also say we’re both pretty stubborn. I’m not sure I agree with them on that. As it turns out, we have a couple other things in common. He’s a b-boy, also known to the general public as a breakdancer. Yes, I too was a breakdancer, though not so much anymore…I’ll leave that up to the kid. haha! He’s also taken up photography, videography and video editing. He’s getting pretty darn good at it, too.
